The official trailer for the short film "No One's Watching" written and directed by Justin Tomchuk. Christian MacDonald as the director of photography. This film was shot on location in Halifax and Dartmouth, Canada. The film will be released to festivals in the spring of 2012.
We used the Red One Camera with the Mysterium X sensor and Zeiss prime lenses. Colour grading was done in RedCineX. The film grain overlay was created by transferring 16mm film to 4.5K.

We wrapped "No One's Watching" today at 2AM. Let's just say I'm grateful for the very talented and dedicated crew.
There were a few days when things got a little out of hand. In the end, It's hard to believe what we managed to pull off in such a short period of time. The director of photography, Christian MacDonald and my friend at NSCAD University managed to capture very beautiful images. I am reviewing what we shot over the past couple of days, and the film is going to look incredible.
I'm looking forward to editing this with Christian and hoping to have it finished by January. But until then, we're shifting gears for Kirsten Stanley's shoot which is coming up in the week.
Thanks again to my friends, crew, actors, family and neighbours who helped in their own ways to make this film have a successful shoot. It could not have been done without those who volunteered their time, effort and money. Information on screenings will be posted here in the future.

No One's Watching, the film I wrote and will be directing will start principal photography in less than two weeks. We are filming on the Red One Mysterium X Camera in the 4.5K 2:1 aspect ratio. For the week of the production we will be traveling all around the HRM, to a restaurant, a bowling alley, law courts, a retired three story dormitory and neighbourhoods.
Shortly after, I will be working with Kirsten Stanley as the director of photography on her film titled "Fuddle", which is a comedy about an old man and his dog who passes away.
Over the summer I worked on a film called "The Three of Us", directed by William Stewart. Right now it is in post production and a first cut has been made.
William is editing the film in London as part of his graduation thesis for the University of Westminster.
I worked on this film as the director of photography with a very dedicated crew who were willing to work for free. I met a lot of great people, and hopefully the film is a success in the new year.

"Smoulder", a short film written and directed by Karolina Szablewska has his hit the film festivals! Taken from the AFF website: "A shy teenager navigates contemporary adolescent late-night life while exploring her 'and her best friend's' emerging sexuality in this naturalistic NSCAD short."
It has screened at the Montreal World Film Festival mid August, and it will screen again at the Atlantic Film Festival here in Halifax. Find out when it is playing, and purchase tickets on this website.
Or navigate though the schedule on the Atlantic Film Festival website.
A lot of skilled people worked on this film including Stéphane Sinclair-Fortin as the DOP, and Christian MacDonald who contributed a compelling original soundtrack. I worked on the sound mix, the intro sequence and worked on set as assistant camera and b-footage.

New film in the works! It is titled "No One's Watching" and it's set in a recession struck Halifax where crime and corruptness permeates the characters in the film. It is my thesis project for the film academy at NSCAD University. We will be shooting in 4.5k on a Red One camera with the new Mysterium X sensor.
The film is currently in pre-production, and locations and casting are already underway. We are also looking to raise funds to add to the RBC grant we received for a total budget of 4k. In the past several months I've been working on a few film projects with my friends at NSCAD University. We made six short films in the past eight months.
If you can make it, there is a screening on April 20th, 7pm, at Park Lane Cinema in Halifax. There is a $5 admission.
Shut Out is a short drama written and directed by Matthew Frazier. I've worked on this film as a director of photography, assistant editor and colourist. We used a Canon 60D with Nikon lenses, and a Cinevate digital SLR package.
Smoulder, a short film directed by Karolina Szablewska will also be screened that night. I've worked with Christian MacDonald on the sound design, editing and mixing. Christian recorded an original score for the film with his electric guitar and pedal board - it's really something to listen to. It gives the film a strong foreboding and haunting feel.
Other films screened include Her Daughter's Eyes directed by Kirsten Stanley, The Right Answer by Jessica Murwin, Vent directed by Ryan Taylor and F Block 6 by Riley LaMarche.

A music section has been added to the website. On it, you will find a full length downloadable dark ambient album I made this summer. They are available to purchase in physical form as well. There will be more music added to this section in the future.
Well, I guess it's a little late to post this, but I had a new painting in an exhibition at the Anna Leowens Gallery on Granville Street in Halifax. It was a group exhibition for a painting course I took at NSCAD University called "Snapshot Painting". I will be uploading the new paintings to the gallery once I get time to properly document them. There will be five new paintings.
